::  Petit Douy
1500 Brickell Avenue
Year Built: 1931
Architect/Builder: Martin L. Hampton/J. W. Hunt
Date Designated: 1983

b. Patterned after a French chateau, Petit Douy was built in 1931 for John and Ethel Murrell, two prominent local attorneys known as strong community activists. The couple visited France after their marriage and selected a chateau near the town of Douy as the model for their new house in Miami. The building's unique design is expressed in its octagonal towers, crenelated roof, and trefoil arched windows.
