Miami's colorful heritage is embodied by hundreds of significant
properties ranging from residential neighborhoods of Mediterranean Revival
style villas, Art Deco homes, Craftsman bungalows, and Bahamian cottages,
to larger and more elaborate high style buildings such as the Freedom Tower
and Olympia Theater as well as several archeological zones.
The Map leads to an interactive map of the City,
which will allow you to locate Miami's historic sites, historic districts,
and archeological zones.
Map Instructions: At the top righthand corner of the
page, there are five icons. Chose the icon that looks like a city skyline.
This allows you to choose different “layers” including zoning, land use, and
historic resources. Choose the historic resources layer. From there, you can
view historic sites, districts, environmental districts, and archaeological
areas. You have to zoom into the map for some of the historic sites
information to appear. Archaeological probability zones show up as red
(high) yellow (moderate) and grey (low), historic sites are blue,
environmental districts are purple, etc.
If you choose the binoculars icon, it will allow you to select specific
properties. You can search any property by address or folio in the
search bar. Use this format: 100 SE 2 AV
Historic Sites and Districts features
