::  Hindu Temple
870 NW 11th Street
Year Built: 1920
Architect: August C. Geiger
Date Designated: 1991

a. Hollywood inspired one of Miami's most unusual houses, the Hindu Temple. An elaborate temple was among the temporary sets built for The Jungle Trial, believed to be the first motion picture shot in Miami. The temple captured the imagination of prominent local merchant John Seybold, who decided to build a permanent version of the building as his home. August C. Geiger created the design with its domed octagonal towers and finely detailed windows. The house was built on the site of the original movie set after filming ended in 1919.
