a. One of Miami's more unusual examples of Masonry Vernacular architecture evokes the cottages of the French countryside. The Flanders House is particularly noteworthy for the quality of its craftsmanship and detailing, including the green French tiles on its steep roof. For more than 80 years, the building has survived virtually unaltered. The house was built for Walter E. Flanders, the real estate developer who platted the surrounding Magnolia Park subdivision.
