::  Congress Building
111 NE 2nd Avenue
Years Built: 1923-1926
Architect: Martin L. Hampton
Date Designated: 2003

a. One of Miami's most outstanding Neo-Classical skyscrapers, the 21-story Congress Building is actually composed of two separate buildings constructed three years apart. A system of trusses and columns supports the 16-story addition that straddles the original five-story building. E. A. Sturman was the structural engineer for the addition. The Congress Building was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

b. Historic photograph of the Congress Building during the construction of the addition, circa 1926.
